If you are a Ass: A very loyal and sweet person. Your loyalty can never be doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle free, humble and down-to-earth!! That explains the reason why your friends cling on to you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and easy-going. You have a little group of dignified friends, all of them being quality-personified.

If you are a Slug: Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous gleam in your eyes is what makes you so cute and attractive to everyone. You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder people seek for your company and look forward to include you for all get-together's. However, you are sensitive which is a drawback. People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath. God bless the person then!

If you are a Cockroach : Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfully derive work from people. You love being loved, and when you receive your share of limelight from someone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well... Hence some people could even take an advantage, flatter you to the maximum and get their work done. So be careful.....

If you are a Parasite : An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You love exploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal circumstances you're cool but when given a reason to, you are like a volcano waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an icon associated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't like talking much to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You observe care in choosing your friends.

If you are a Skunk: You are near to perfect and nice at heart. The examples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You, too, love peace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind one's back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give and give love, and the best part is that you do not expect it back in return. You are generous enough. Seeing things in a practical light is what remains the best trait of you guys.

If you are a Bullfrog: You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in life. Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain unaffected. In fact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You are the leader of your group of friends and good at consoling people in their times of need. You dislike hypocrisy and tend to shirk away from hypocrites. They can never be in your good books, no matter what. You are very methodical and organized in your work. No amount of mess, hence, can ever encompass you. Beware, it is easy for you to fall in love....

If you are a Snake : You are mysterious. You are someone who can handle pressure with ease, and can handle any atmosphere without going berserk. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected group. Very prim and proper. You like all situations and things to be in the way you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out from difficult and tight spots when they really need you.

If you are a Ape : Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be done as quick as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique. You would like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!!

Foods that are Natural Blood Thinners.

When you are injured and blood flows constantly, the body stops the blood flow, by forming a clot. This helps to prevent blood loss. But when blood clots when it is moving within the body, it could be dangerous. Blood clots usually are formed inside the veins, and can be very dangerous. If stored in your brain, you could suffer from a stroke, if lodged in your heart; you could suffer from a heart attack or cause lung problems if lodged in your lungs.

Reasons for this blood clot could vary from hereditary to lifestyle issues. Patients prone to blood clots are often prescribed anticoagulants like aspirin as it prevents the blood from clotting. Aspirin contains salicylates, a natural substance that acts as a natural blood thinner. Salicylates are found in many preservatives and flavorings. However there are a number of natural ingredients that act as natural blood thinners. Lets have a look at the foods that are natural blood thinners.

Omega 3 fatty acids are great blood thinners. Make sure you eat fish that’s rich in fatty oils like salmon. That is probably the reason why a number of doctors recommend adding Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet. Indian food is full of herbs and spices that have salicylates. Thus they are known as warming spices. They increase the blood circulation, by thinning the blood. Common among these are turmeric, ginger, curry powder, onion, cinnamon and thyme.

Turmeric manages to thin the blood by restricting the activity of an enzyme called fibrinogen. Ginger not only acts as a natural blood thinner, but also prevents the blood platelets from sticking to each other. In fact there are studies to prove that ginger is more effective than aspirin in preventing blood from clotting. Onion is also a very good natural blood thinner. Like Ginger, Onion too keeps the blood from clotting and prevents platelets from sticking it to each other.

Among the fruits that are high in salicylates are raisins, prunes, cherries, cranberries, blueberries, grapes, strawberries, tangerines and oranges. Vitamin E is also believed to be a good blood thinner. This is a fat soluble vitamin that protects essential fatty acids and prevents the breakdown of tissues.

Nuts like Almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts and pistachios, legumes like chick peas, lentils, cereals like wheat, rice and oats are very good source of vitamin E. Red wine is also said to be an effective natural blood thinner. Food rich in Iron is also believed to be an effective natural blood thinner.

In general, food high in vitamin K, like lettuce should be avoided if you are someone who is prone to blood clots. But remember a complete avoidance of food high in vitamin K can lead to increased blood loss, and even conditions like hematuria (blood in the urine), hemorrhages and even heavy periods in women. This can get particularly serious in you have met with an accident and the body is unable to clot blood properly.

If you have been prescribed anticoagulant drugs, make sure to take the natural blood thinning food in moderation, or else you would only end in a hemorrhage.

The health benefits of Green Tea:

The health benefits of Green Tea:
Green tea specifically has been associated with protection against certain types of cancer including lung, stomach cancer and its precancerous condition, gastritis. Moreover, an observational study in Japan found that the regular consumption of green tea (more than 3 cups a day) might be protective against recurrence of breast cancer in the early stages.

In addition to its potential anti carcinogenic and antioxidant effects, other studies have shown green tea to have anti-inflammatory, anti thrombotic, cholesterol lowering, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

Green tea and skin protection:

A number of animal studies have shown that topical treatment or oral consumption of green tea polyphenols, inhibit chemical carcinogen or ultraviolet radiation-induced skin tumours in different animal models. Treatment of green tea polyphenols to skin has been shown to have a beneficial effect on the biochemical pathways involved in skin inflammation, cell proliferation and chemical tumour promoters. These results have been confirmed in a human model, where topical application of green tea polyphenols protected against UV light induced DNA damage. Based on results mainly from animal studies, many companies are now supplementing their skin care products with green tea extracts.

Green tea extract and weight loss:
Preliminary research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that an extract from green tea may help with weight loss by speeding up fat oxidation. In this study, researchers conducted a 6 week study of 10 healthy men in their 20's and found that those men who were given a green tea extract used more calories in a day than those who did not.

Possible Link between Green Tea and Arthritis Prevention
Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic disease and is one of the most common forms of arthritis. According to an April 13, 1999 news release from the Arthritis Foundation, the disease affects 2.1 million Americans (i.e., 1.5; million women, 600,000 men), and usually strikes in middle age. Researchers conducting a study funded by the Arthritis Foundation report that green tea may be useful in treating or preventing rheumatoid arthritis; however, more research is needed to determine its exact role. According to the release, the polyphenolic compounds present in green tea may limit the onset and subsequent progression of rheumatoid arthritis. Polyphenols are a class of compounds that have strong antioxidant properties (i.e., the ability to halt enzymes that produce carcinogens) .

In three independent experiments, the mice that researchers gave green tea polyphenols (GTP) in water exhibited significantly reduced incidence of arthritis (i.e., 33% to 50% developed arthritis as compared to 84% to 100% of mice not given GTP in water). According to the release, mice given GTP in water were protected significantly from developing arthritis, and if they did develop the disease, its severity was mild. More testing is needed with humans to determine the role of green tea in the treatment and prevention of rheumatoid arthritis.

Ten things we do to damage our skin

Ten things we do to damage our skin...

So, you think you lead a healthy lifestyle, eat the right stuff, exercise adequately and look after your skin. Stop and take a closer look. Are you doing things that could inadvertently damage your skin? These silent killers may be the reason your appearance is lacklustre despite your best efforts.

1. Not drinking enough water

This is perhaps the most repeated advice and the least followed. Your body needs at least two litres a day to remove toxins from your system, partly through your kidneys and partly through your skin. Lacking this, toxin build-up will affect your skin as well as your general health, making you tired and dull. Keep that bottle on your desk, and drink!

2. Picking your pimples

We do it unconsciously, when nervous, or just as a habit. Pimples don't harm your face permanently. What leaves untreatable scars is your picking, pinching and playing with them -- scars so deep that even dermatologist cannot get rid of them 100 per cent. Prevention is the best cure, so stop touching your face and start proper anti-acne treatment.

3. Shaving the wrong way

And it isn't just men I'm talking to. Women who use razors for body hair also beware -- shaving against the direction of hair growth (ie from below upwards) causes ingrown hair, damaged follicles and introduces infections into your hair roots that can cause painful recurrent boils. Shave only in the direction of hair growth -- this will prevent damage to your skin.

4. Not using sunscreen on a hill station
You've gone for a high altitude vacation and the cold weather makes you believe you don't need sun protection -- wrong! At higher altitudes, there are lesser layers of atmosphere between you and the sun to filter UV rays, so your ultra-violet exposure increases. You need your sunscreen all the more!

5. Taking hormone supplements for body building
It isn't just the men, even women who want a 'toned' look quickly take DHEA (DeHydroEpiAndroste rone) supplements. These are known to cause acne even in normal skin, and flare up existing acne. Protein supplements are fine though, and actually help your skin.

6. Not reapplying moisture / sunscreen
Are you the jet setting type who slaps on lotion in the morning and then spends the next two hours at work without a further thought about your skin? Air conditioned offices sap moisture from your skin in a couple of hours. Also, no sunscreen retains its effect beyond two hours. Apply frequently -- at least during your lunch break, after a quick face wash.

7. Waxing your upper lip / facial hair

A total nightmare for your delicate facial skin -- the trauma causes tiny microscopic bleeding into your hair follicles that, over time, heal with scarring and end up causing roughness and pigmentation that is extremely hard to treat.

8. Going on a 'proteins only' diet
Fad diets deprive your skin (and body) of essential nutrients. You need vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and various micronutrients that a single food diet cannot give you. Talk to a professional dietician before embarking on drastic diet plans and get them to prescribe the appropriate nutritional supplements.

9. Late night partying

Your body sleeps at night, but your skin doesn't -- most of its repair and renewal work is done while you're in bed. Depriving it of the nightly eight hours of rejuvenation will obviously leave it looking dull and tired. Good sleep is a must for good skin!

10. Stressing out

Stress shows up after years on your heart and blood pressure, but almost immediately on your skin. So listen to your skin when it is trying to tell you something -- patchy complexion, blemishes, dullness, itchy redness, rashes appearing at periods of high stress, acne flare-ups -- all point to unwarranted high stress levels. Try yoga, meditation, exercise, or whatever your best stress buster is.

The following tips will hopefully give you relief with your snoring problems. It's important to remember that different remedies will have varying success depending on the individual.
Elevate your head by sleeping on a thicker pillow or multiple pillows will help reduce your snoring.
Don't drink alcoholic beverages, take sleeping pills, tranquilizers, or antihistamines right before going to sleep, they will cause your muscles to relax and limit your air passage way.
Avoid dairy products, which can cause mucus build-up right before you go to sleep.
If you are overweight, losing some weight will reduce snoring by increasing the space in your air passage way.
Sleeping on your side instead of your back will help to prevent snoring.
A common remedy to prevent sleeping on your back is to sew a tennis ball to the back of your shirt; the discomfort of sleeping on the ball will prevent you from staying on your back.
Try following a regular sleep routine.
Try taking in a little bit of honey before sleeping.
Don't eat a big meal right before bed, if your stomach is full it will push up on your diaphragm and limit breathing passage ways.
Avoid eating "rich" foods such as cakes, cookies, chocolate and pizza.
Sleep on a firmer pillow, a pillow that's too soft encourages your throat muscles to relax and narrows your air passageway.
Inhale steam before sleeping or sleep in a room with a humidifier turned on, which will reduce congestion and moisturize the throat.
Purchase some nasal strips and put them on before going to sleep. Nasal strips will open up your nostrils and allow more air to come in, thus reduce snoring. If you are a smoker, stop smoking, if that is not feasible then avoid smoking right before you go to bed. Smoking causes inflammation and swelling of the throat.
Take anti-snoring pills or use anti-snoring nasal spray
Consult a medical profesional if your snoring continues to adversely affect your sleep.

LIPSTICK INFORMATION

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Very important, please forward to all ladies, who use lipsticks and guys send to your lippy lady friends please.

LIPSTICK INFORMATION Something to consider Next time you go shopping for Lipstick.... ....

This comes from someone who works in the breast cancer unit at Mt. Sinai Hospital, in Toronto .

From: Dr. Nahid Neman

If there is a female you care anything about, share this with her. I did!!!!!

I am also sharing this with the males on my e-mail list, Because they need to tell the females

THEY care about as well!

Recently a lipstick brand called 'Red Earth', decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90.

Why such a drastic collapse in price?

ANY IDEA?

.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Answer: It contained lead.

Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The lipstick brands that contain lead are:

* CHRISTIAN DIOR
* LANCÔME
* CLINIQUE
* Y.S.L
* ESTEE LAUDER
* SHISEIDO
* RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)
* CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)
* MARKET AMERICA-MOTNES LIPSTICK.

The higher the lead content, the greater the chance of causing cancer.

After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. Lipstick contained the most amount of lead..

Watch out for those lipsticks, which are supposed to stay longer. If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the higher content of lead.

Here is a simple-home test - you can do by yourself:

1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
3. If the lipstick colour changes to black,
Then you know the lipstick contains lead.

Please send this information to all your friends, specially the female-folk, wives and female family members.

This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Centre.

Dioxin Carcinogens cause cancer, specially breast cancer....

Take care of yourselves, near n dear ones.

BETTER TO BE SAFE, THAN TO BE SORRY.

India to overtake China as World's Biggest Country by 2026

India will overtake China to become the world's most populous nation within the next 16 years, according to new government figures.

Officials say the rise in population to more than 1.6 billion by 2050 will threaten the country's rapid economic development.

The subject of population growth in the country has been almost taboo since Indira Gandhi's heavy-handed population policies, which included forced sterilisations and vasectomies, caused widespread anger in the mid 1970s.

According to the author, Dr Amarjeet Singh of the National Population Stabilisation Fund, India will need to reconsider its position to stop population growth fuelling poverty.

India's current population of 1.1 billion will swell by 371 million in 2026, the report said, taking it beyond China's current 1.35 billion.

The scale of India's population explosion is highlighted by the fact that its most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, has more than 180 million people.

The report's publication provoked a clash between India's population experts and leading commentators over whether the rise will help or hinder the country's remarkable growth story. India's economy is currently growing at more than nine per cent second only to China.

Author Dr Amarjeet Singh warned that becoming the world's most populous country will trap several hundred million Indians in poverty.

"If we continue to grow at the current pace we will double our population in fifty years making sustainable development unattainable," he said.

His report blamed economic insecurity among the country's 500 million poor, which led to high rates of teenage pregnancies. It revealed that a quarter of India's teenage girls were either pregnant or mothers by age eighteen.

Those girls who left school early were more likely to become teenage mothers, while those who remained at school showed lower fertility levels, the report claimed.

Dr Singh's report for the Ministry of Heath and Family Welfare was denounced by rival experts and commentators who said a growing nation could pay a "demographic dividend" of even higher economic growth.

"This is absolute bunkum," said AR Nanda, executive director of the Population Foundation of India and former commissioner of India's census.

"Over the next 25 years India will reap a demographic dividend of high economic growth providing we invest in human resources and health. We could see an economic surge," he added.

Pavan K Varma, one of India's most influential social commentators, said India already produces 160,000 newly qualified engineers and more than one million technicians every year, which will increase as its population and investment in education rise.

He said increasing education opportunities and the rise in access to television was already slowing the population growth rate.

"More than 500 million people in rural India are watching cable television and as more and more try to replicate the lifestyles they see portrayed so fleshily, they see how each child reduces the possibility of being part of this upwardly mobile curve," he said.

INDIA IS LOADED WITH MAGICAL MEDICINAL HERBS.

Did you know ?

1 More than 4.7 million Americans were bitten by dogs in the year 2009 and the majority of the victims included small children , the elderly and the US Postal Service Letter Carriers (postmen) .

2 Over 800,000 dog bite victims required medical attention and about 40 , 000 victims needed emergency treatment.

3 The majority of the dog bites occur within the pet owner’s home . ( You are visiting a friend and his ferocious looking dog will be barking at you , your friend will be assuring you , it ‘s a baby , it will only bark but won’t bite anyone and you will be wondering yes a barking dog seldom bites but does the barking dog know that , just kidding).

4 Almost two thirds of dog bites for are the age group 4 years and younger and the injuries are on the head or neck region.

5 Injury rates in children are higher for boys than girls.

Dog Bite Prevention Tips

Safety tips to follow when a dog approaches

1 Don’t turn and run – dogs naturally love to chase and catch things.

2 Stand still , hands at your sides . In most cases , the dog will go away when it determines you are not a threat.

3 Don’t scream. If you say anything , speak calmly and firmly.

4Face the dog at all times , but don’t stare . Avoid eye contact .

5 Allow the dog to sniff you , but don’t put your hand out.

6Back away slowly watching the dog from the corner of your eye.

Safety Tips for Children

1 Never pet a strange dog , even if the owner is present .

2 Stay away from a dog while it is eating and sleeping .

3 Never retrieve a ball from someone else’s yard.

4Stay away from a dog that has puppies.

5 Stay away from a dog that is tied up.

6 Never pull a dog’s ears or tail.

7 Never tease a dog or make it angry .

8 Stand totally still if a dog runs at you barking. Cover your face with your hands .

9 Do not yank your hands away if a dog ‘mouths’ your hands.

10 If knocked down to the ground by a dog , roll into a ball , cover your face with your arms , and stay as still as possible until the dog leaves.

Safety Tips For Parents

1 Do not allow your young child to discipline a dog.

2 Never leave a young child or a baby alone with dog.

3 Do not allow your child to feed a dog unsupervised.

4 Do not allow your child to pull on a dog’s collar.

5 Do not allow your child to walk the dog unsupervised.

6 Do not allow your child to play aggressive games with any dog .

7 Teach your dog to be submissive and to respond to verbal commands.

Dogs are wonderful companions . By acting responsibly owners not only reduce the number of dog bites, but also enhance the relationship they have with their dog .

Let air be light

We know that wind can be used to generate power. But, how about ‘creating’ wind to generate electricity? A young researcher who has only studied upto Class XII has successfully managed to get his wind energy project an Australian patent.

Just goes to show that innovation, invention and research are not limited only to universities and manors of higher education. It can flourish amidst a green field and muddy surroundings too.

Wind energy is supposed to be one of the best unconventional green sources of energy. But it has its limitations. First, a perfect location is needed to install a windmill, so that it can create sufficient energy.

Secondly, the investment required is quite high. This young inventor — Birudev Hajare — has developed a technique which produces wind power without the need of a windmill, at ground level with a bare minimum natural wind velocity.

Birudev has applied for a world patent and already has an innovation patent from the Australian government. Speaking to this reporter, Birudev said, “I have already applied for a Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) which will give my project international identity. A Pune-based PCT firm is helping me complete the formalities.”

To realise what Birudev, a 34-year-old inventor has done, we had to travel 20 km from the city, cross green fields and slushy roads to reach the typical semi-urban setup of Manjari.

Birudev Hajare, a small- town man stays in Manjari Khurd. When asked about the project, the not-very-highly-educated Birudev starts talking about unconventional energy sources and about windpower like a expert. He impressed us with all his statistics and energy formulae riddled in the conversation.

Birudev Hajare has done a two-year course in electricity from Ghule College of Manjari. Since his college days, he has been working on this project. Apart from working on his invention with zeal, Birudev works in a small fabrication workshop in Ramtekdi Industrial Estate, Hadapsar.

The invention
Birudev has developed a technique which produces wind artificially, which in turn generates electricity. Blowers (that he fabricated himself) work as turbines that produce wind by moving or giving velocity to the air around it.

A conventional source of energy — electricity — is used to run these blowers. And, in case this gets you sceptical, don’t be! It generates almost three times the amount of electricity it uses.

The set-up
Birudev has created a pilot set-up at a friend’s farm house. He put together an input AC power, a duct (comprising entry and exit points which channelises wind), a fan (adapted to be driven by an AC motor), an alternator (to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy), and a speed-boosting shape. The speed-boosting shape reduces the volume of duct. It also creates more pressure, thus more (kinetic) energy.

Four AC motors run the blowers, each with a capacity of 12.5 horsepower (hp). The blowers suck the air from outside. The setup has a capacity of generating power of 147.5 hp. It is the pressure difference between inside the duct and outside, helps create the artificial wind.

The wind enters the narrow duct with great pressure that moves the turbine at the end. The turbine is directly attached to the AC generator which converts this mechanical energy into electrical energy. The entire set-up, which Birudev built with the help of villagers and friends, cost him Rs 5 lakh.

Hazare khwaishein
Although Birudev’s invention has been recognised by the Australian government, the procedure of getting the patent was not easy for him. Mainly because he was a small-town youth. “My brother searched for the formalities that needed to be completed in order to get a patent, online,” he says.

But Birudev is not yet satisfied. “I want the recognition for our country. I just want some experts to visit my village and check the viability of the project. Till date, I have contacted many eminent researchers and ministers, but nobody has shown willingness to send somebody to check the authenticity of my invention.

I don’t need financial support or any other help from them. I just need some motivation, someone to tell me that I’m on the right track. That will give me the green signal to go ahead.”

However, Birudev hasn’t been completely ignored either. He was recently felicitated at a programme in Pune where the higher and technical minister Rajesh Tope was present.

“Tope saheb gave me an appointment and I’m going to meet him at the Mantralaya soon,” says Birudev. When asked what exactly he’s looking to achieve out of this visit, Birudev puts it simply, “A letter by the minister to approach a University or any research institute which would take note of my invention and give me a stamp of authenticity after checking it.”
